As this is your first post I'll assume you have not had the LR3 very long. Do these accelerations occur on straight stretches of pavement or in curves/turns? I'll bet that sound is the Traction Control kicking in. Does it sound like a "crunching" noise? Next time look for a little amber indication on the dash at the same time.

stretching or cracking is a weird way to describe a noise from a car. i couldn't imagine what either of these sounds like or how it relates to acceleration.
pops/bangs/thuds/creaks would be more common descriptions.

    maybe some more details.

what is hard acceleration? from a stop and flooring it? or highway passing?
is it a constant noise as you accelerate? or only happens once when starting to speed up?does the noise stop when coasting at high speed?
is it inside the cabin? make sure there is nothing loose in the cargo area.
can you tell the area it comes from? driver/passenger/high/low?

I’ve just had a similar sound on my Land Rover Discovery 3, 2.7TDV6. I found out that my rear offside brake Caliper was seized on.
    1. Is your rear wheels getting hot
    2. Can you smell hot rubber when doing journeys of 5 miles or more.
    3. You have noticed increased fuel consumption.
I too thought it was my rear handbrake was not releasing properly. It was not until I removed my rear offside wheel and took Caliper off I noticed piston of Caliper was seized against disc.Cost £35 for Britax Caliper, 1 set of Caliper guide pins and a set of rear pads costing £65 and car is as good as new. Fuel consumption around town now has gone from 16mpg before fault found too 23.5mpg around town.

I would say it's more of a stretching than a cracking sound it only happens with a hard acceleration on straight pavement from 0 to whatever and also when I step on it hard to pass someone on the freeway where there's a lot of torque involved it sounds like something is stretching or about to fail so lately I try not to accelerate so hard and the harder I accelerate the louder and the longer it lasts but the longest it has lasted so far is maybe 2 seconds 3 seconds. Also I know it's not the traction control I know what that sounds like and anti-lock brakes when they're activated and no little symbol of the tire or anything comes on the dashboard when it happens.

I had the same issue with my first LR3. Very hot smell when I parked in the garage. It was the rear caliper stuck on as per Ian above.
