Hey All! I'm hoping someone smarter than me can solve this issue for me. Long story short, I have officially replaced the entire Denso infotainment system with a newer style Bosch one in my 2010 LR4. So much so, that I've even updated the BCM, IPC and ABS module to a 2013 and re-VIN'd the IPC to match the 2013 BCM...so, my LR4 thinks it's a 2013. Anyway, after A LOT of playing with the SDD tool and A LOT of module swapping and flashing, everything...works...almost. FYI, the only codes the system throws are for VIN mismatches in the KVM(also update to a 2013 and recoded into the system), ABS module, DSM (Driver's Seat Module) and HVAC Module.

The final glitch that I haven't been able to correct is a lack of information being present on the display screen. HOWEVER, when you turn the volume up or down, it'll "half shade" the display with the audio up/down message, where in you can see all the information is indeed there....to make matters even more interesting, if you know where the buttons are located, you can press them and access the menus.

My question is, has anyone seen this? Is there a simple fix, ie "you have to have matched Audio and Display units?" is it a simple software flash? I feel like it has to be something simple, and I have been playing with my CCF like crazy thinking I just haven't enabled something, but it's just doesn't want to display correctly. I believe both the Audio module and display module are both 2013 units, but don't quote me 100% on it.

Open to the group for suggestions! The car will be back with me early next week and then I have less than a month to get it working correctly! Which reminds me, I should point out this is one of our daily drivers, so it starts, runs and does everything else just fine!

For reference, here's what the display looks like normally:

And here's what it's supposed to look like...or rather how my 2012 looks:

Does it actually work? What happens if you change the display theme to the bright daylight theme instead of the dark theme that most of us run? I think that's in the settings somewhere.

Here are some CCF settings from my 2013

I’ll check in the settings as soon as my son gets back with the car. (he’s due in Tuesday). I didn’t know they had a bright and a dark setting. It’s worth a shot!

As for it working, the Sirius and Bluetooth audio work fine, the 4x4 info is there, the nav system works. The only apparent issue is the fact that the information just isn’t populated.

I wondered if there was some sort of “unlock” procedure as all these modules came from different vehicles? I did flash them all to ensure they were up to date and didn’t have any compatibility issues.

I know it’s something crazy simple…that’s why it’s SO annoying!

Yeah that's odd. I doubt the bright/dark setting will do anything, but figured it would be entertaining at least.

Thanks for all the inputs, but I finally figured my issue out. It appears as though there was some sort of internal error on my touchscreen unit. I went ahead and got another touchscreen just to check as I noticed the Audio Unit (AKA CD player) had a software load that was more advanced than GAP's database, and the touchscreen did not. This was mainly due to the fact that I have a 2016 Audio unit and a 2012 touchscreen. I reached out to GAP, but they just told me they couldn't "back-flash" a module with previous software versions. So, after figuring a lot of other glitches out during this swap, like the BCM needed to be a 2012/13, which meant the IPC needed to be a 2012/13(maybe)....which means the KVM needed to be a 2012/13, amongst the other items I had to swap out to make the Bosch swap work, I thought the final glitch might be an incompatibility between the 2016 Audio unit and 2012 touchscreen. So, I swapped the Audio unit in from my 2012 and the display still performed the same. (this was over the summer) Fast forward a few months and I thought, let's try the other way around and I bought a 2016 touchscreen and installed it this morning, cause everything I've done with the CCF isn't working and all the functionality is there which means the modules are wired correctly and talking nicely. On a side note, I did run into an issue over the summer when I tried to update the software in the Meridian amp while it was in my 2010. It crashed and couldn't complete, I totally thought I had bricked the Meridian Amp...which wasn't cheap...even used. I swapped the HK amp from my 2012 into my 2010 and it worked fine. I put the Meridian in my 2012 and re-flashed the software and it worked fine. Sooo, my guess is that because the touchscreen module is the actual gateway module for the Infotainment system, it was jacked up and caused the flash failure. FYI, the CANBUS communicates with the MOST system through the touchscreen display. (in the 2010/11, it does this through the integrated audio module, not the touchscreen). Now that I know my touchscreen module was defective, that makes a lot more sense!

Thankfully, after almost a year of troubleshooting, Voila!!!! Everything works like it should. Except the fact that it's looking for the meridian amplifier and I only have the Harmon Kardon amp in there. I'll swap it back in when my son is home from college this summer...maybe Regardless, the radio still sounds awesome, and now if I want to upgrade to an aftermarket tablet display or something like that, in theory everything should work perfectly...in theory. This means all the OEM functionality will both repeat and be accessible.

Of course, as I understand it, they now have CarPlay interfaces that work with the 2010/11 system, so this whole undertaking was kinda pointless. BUT, at least I can say I did it!

The only glitch I have left is the fact that my back up camera image is reversed. AKA, a mirror image. My guess is that the 2012+ camera either has a built in reversal function, or they started running the camera module for all LR4's after 2012. I'll check when I can get back to my 2012 in NJ.

The finished product:

Is that a 2016 UI? Doesn't look like my 2012... In any case, congrats on getting it sorted!
Yes, I'm guessing that's the 2016 UI, as it doesn't look anything like my 2012 either! LOL! It does also give me the option for a hotspot, but tells me there's no SIM detected. I don't care, my phone works better anyway!

Other than that, everything works great!
