I feel your pain, every time I feel like I got the car fully sorted another item comes up. I had planned on doing valve covers, upper and upper timing covers when all the sudden my alternator dies, I replace that and then notice while I’m down there that there’s a coolant leak coming from my radiator. Get the radiator sorted with my AC system which hasn’t worked right for years (prior shop used cheap parts, works great after ANOTHER condenser and compressor) oh the review I left on that shop… anyway, then today I notice that my tire ware on the rear is a little odd, everything on the rear is original and I’m at 147k now, sure enough it needs rear upper control arms. I’ll do them myself to save money. Still need to do those valve covers and timing covers, just putting it off because I have to pull the injectors. Still also need to change both diff fluids and the t-case fluid. I’ll be doing all of that myself as well, and hopefully then I’ll be able to hold my head above water for a little time.

Sorry to hear that. Don't give up. What was the mileage when t he alternator failed?

Damn, I took old Boom Boom in for an oil change at 123,157 miles on the clock and 5,008 miles since his last oil change. Had an appointment for Thursday. On Wednesday I thought, "So nice to just take him in for an oil change and not a repair." Then, of course, I get a suspension fault. Compressor and valve block are going bad. Time to replace. At least I had a nearly-new Arnott compressor and valve block and plastic housing on hand that I picked up from a wrecked 2013 LR4 back in November for $361 for just such an occasion. Still, I'd like to just make it to 2 oil changes in a row without something breaking.

2013 Land Rover LR4 HSE LUX HD Package
123,157 miles
purchased used 8/11/2020 with 69,200 miles

My tally so far is:

$9,841.80 routine maintenance
$17,228.83 repairs

$27,070.63 total

$0.502 per mile for repair & maintenance

*this does not include what I call "extra stuff" like roof rack, bumpers, winch, skid plates, lights, etc.
Dang. I thought my $19,000 and change was high (that includes Renan engine) you clearly win!

Thank you for keeping the tally.
I’m on the fence if oil, filters, brakes, tires, and other common maintenance items belong here. If they do, wouldn’t fuel belong here too.
What I find most useful is catching those repairs that I was not expecting to see. And identifying the mileage of the occurance.
Thanks again.

Was it pinched during install or junk from the factory? Are you replacing just the oring or the whole crossover?
