2013 LR4 HD Lux 170k Miles. I’ve owned since 2016.

Developed a clunking below driver’s feet. It got pretty bad and I eventually got around to changing parts that I THOUGHT needed it.
The clunk happens at low speeds, forward and reverse. Used to have to be accelerating to hear it. Now it clunks just rolling forward.

I did the front upper and lower control arms on both sides, swapped front EAS struts. After that, clunk was still there.
Engine mounts were in terrible shape, completely shot. So I swapped both of those and did the transmission mount while I was at it. It took be about 2 weeks between receiving incorrect parts and broken parts, along with daily chores. I finished it up tonight, still has a damn clunk.
Pretty depressing.

I tried attaching a link to a video that you can hear it. In the first video, I am in drive, pressing brake and accelerator same time. Second video is at low speed take off.

Please help. I’m near Billings, Montana if anyone feels like helping for some beer . I did those jobs by myself and now I feel so defeated.

If it's right under your feet, that really sounds like lower control arms.

When you did the lower control arms, are you sure that you properly placed those washers.
It's easy to get wrong if you have never done this task before.

If you placed the washers up on the (for lack of a real term) locating bumps rather than tight against the frame then the control arms are not actually tight in place and can slop around.

And is everything properly torqued?
Those bolts need some serious effort to be properly torqued and it's more than enough to make my eyes pop out!
The rear side of the rear bolt on the LCA is particularly challenging as my torque wrench just doesn't fit in there - I just get it as tight as I can and trust that the alignment guy can get it correctly torqued.

And I would think that the folks doing the alignment would catch all of this this - but....

Here is my take on the LCA project - 2013 and 2016 are the same project.

I did not torque them, but I got really close. I was going to have the alignment shop finish off the torque.
Would the LCA still clunk while not moving? In the one video where I am on the brake and accelerator simultaneously, you can hear it. Though it sounds different, it’s the same clunk ‍

The sound in your first video does not sound like a clunk to me, but like a gear skipping or something. If you change the transfer case to low range, does it change the nature of the noise (assuming you have the HD pack)? I would check the driveshaft from the transfer case to the front diff, maybe the CV joints too?

ftillier, thank you, I will definitely try that this evening or tomorrow morning. I drained the front diff this morning to look at the fluids, that I have not changed in many miles. Definitely some metallic dust in there, but doesn’t look devastating.

I made another video. It’s of the rear driveshaft. The bearing and rubber are definitely beyond their usable life ‍…

To me, this still doesn’t explain the clunk I feel below my feet while driving

Free beer is still on the table for anyone in Montana wanting to help

I refilled the front diff. Then tested again, hi and low range, still clunking as it has been.

It is not “skipping a gear” because I’m literally going just a few mph if that. I’m just going back and forth in my drive way, so it’s 1st gear only, and not close to hitting 2nd.

Any other thoughts???

I didn't mean skipping a gear when shifting, but skipping teeth on a gear, either gears are worn, or maybe like that video about the chain in the transfer case is correct and the chain is skipping.
