Hi All,

I recently got a second hand RRS 2012 HSE TDV6. It's my first Range Rover and I love it to pieces. I've been doing research on these vehicles for years. Therefore, I wasn't really surprised when after no longer than a week of ownership, I discovered a fault on the air suspension.

The vehicle raises into the off road height fine, but when I lower it into access mode - a warning message appears that there is an obstruction, and it immediately shoots up into an extended height. I can't move it down then, unless I turn the engine on and off, then the error message clears. The height still remains extended, until I drive off and it comes down to normal height.

Is this something I should be concerned about? I telephoned a local specialist, and he informed me that it's likely a height sensor issue, but it's nothing that needs fixing ASAP - as long as I don't touch the air suspension controls as I don't really need to use them if I'm only using the vehicle on main roads. I was just curious to see how it worked.

Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this and if they had any fixes? I just don't want this turning into something bigger and then being more expensive to fix.

Is there anything else I should be watching out for/carrying out specifically, in order to keep the vehicle working in top condition?

I agree with your local specialist. Either a bad sensor or it needs reprogrammed, but only a concern if you plan to change the height. I personally never touch the ride height or the parking brake, both can just let you know you have issues.

Is the car secure enough if I just leave it on park without touching the parking break? This is my first time in an automatic.

Yes it is perfectly secure as long as you don't park on a hill in Ice. The issue with the parking brakes is they can rust then stick, which means it will not release. Every all wheel drive vehicle in Ice on a hill will creep down the hill sadly.
