Took the ‘13 LR4 to the local mechanic and he replaced virtually all of the coolant hoses. 83,000 miles. I kept picking up a faint smell of coolant and was thinking it was the front crossover pipe. As it turns out, as others have noted, the leak was coming from the small pipe that attaches to the back of the water pump. You can see evidence of leaking on the water pump itself. I don’t know the history of the crossover pipes, But they were still in excellent shape and not degraded at all. I did it for peace of mind. I could only source the smaller rear crossover pipe from the local land rover dealer but everything else came from Lucky8. Roughly $800 in parts and roughly $900 in labor. Not the cheapest service, but I will not worry about cooling problems now.

Not wanting to start another thread so jumping on here - took my 2016.5 LR4 into an independent shop today to get an oil change. Around 67K miles on the odometer. I mentioned to them that the coolant light came on briefly last week but immediately went back off. Haven't noticed any coolant smells or other issues. They indicated there is a leak in the crossover pipe and recommended having that and the water pump replaced. Got a quote of $4200 (with another $1,500 or so if I wanted to get the rear crossover manifold pipe done as well), which includes replacing the drive belts as well.

Called my local dealer service rep and he said he could do the same repair for $5,300 (including the rear crossover manifold). And then called another reputable independent shop and they said they could do everything for around $2000.

Obviously the $2K sounds much better - just wanted to get thoughts on whether that seems reasonable or "too good to be true", given the other quotes. This shop does also specialize in Land Rovers and indicated they would use genuine factory parts and such. I'm located in the DC region if that is helpful.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

2K sounds about right for doing both of the crossovers. As I understand it, 2014+ is a little more labor-intensive since the supercharger is in the way. Might want to have them change the supercharge oil and/or coupling while they're in there.

Typically when you have to do cooling work, especially the first time, I highly recommend doing ALL of it. This is a list for the V8s, not sure if there's any difference for the scv6.

Water Pump LR097165 - $289
Water Pump gasket LR049370 (2x) - $32ea ($64)
Oil cooler pipe LR028136 - $32
Oil cooler pipe o-ring LR030593 - $11
Front crossover pipe LR018275 - $78
Rear crossover pipe LR109402 - $128
Thermostat LR032135 - $101
Front coolant temp sensor LR041442 (eurospare vs hard to find oem) - $23
BMW brass bleed screw - $6
Coolant LRN2279 (Concentrated, I believe) - $38
Total cost = $770 before tax and shipping

^ Thanks. In looking at the estimate, it appears most of that stuff is included, but I'll make sure they get everything.
