My LR4 127,243 miles - will not run, needs new engine. I'm new here today and wondering what the rules are to list here or any advice on selling it as-is. Thank you in advance - sorry for the newbie question or delete if not allowed. I love this car so much and thought I would keep it forever but don't have the extra money to replace engine.

Here is the quote they gave for these different engine replacement options. This is provided to give the buyer an idea of the work needed on it from a shop specializing in Land Rovers in San Antonio with a good reputation. It's located in San Antonio.
"New engine $22,720 installed
Used 89k miles $17,500 installed
Used 120k miles $16,000 installed
All options have a 1 year or 12,000 mile warranty which ever comes first "

I love this car but can't spend the money on the new engine. Seriously considered it.
4 New tires purchased on Dec 23rd 2020, Pirelli Scorpion 275/55/R19 installed at Discount Tire at milage 124180. Have road hazard insurance on tires + 60K warranty on tires.

More details: Sorry, I do not know how to work on cars and am not mechanically inclined. I was driving to work and entered the highway onramp doing 45 accelerated to 65. Good weather - not cold. Somehow the injectors stuck open and bent the rods and it ruined the engine - I pulled over to the side of the road too late I guess to save it/minimize the damage. I had to replace the starter just to get to the point where we could determine the information on the engine status. I had it diagnosed where i live in San Angelo and also for a second opinion had it shipped by flatbed to the shop in San Antonio that specializes in Land Rovers. Both shops said the same thing. The injector stuck open they think, flooding the cylinder, which caused a connecting rod to bend and now there is low compression in that cylinder. I don't know what cylinder, what the compression is etc

What happened to your engine? Timing chain or overheat?

Sorry, I do not know how to work on cars and am not mechanically inclined. I should have included that information and more details earlier. I was driving to work and entered the highway onramp doing 45 accelerated to 65. Good weather - not cold. Somehow the injectors stuck open and bent the rods and it ruined the engine - I pulled over to the side of the road too late I guess to save it/minimize the damage. Your best bet may be to auction it off at copart.com.

Try Facebook, Craigslist, or even Ebay. Find out what local wrecking yards will offer and go from there. Used engines seem to be about 5-6K$ from wreckers. Very scary that direct injection may flood engine. No warning for that. If you want to dive in, ask around for the price to swap engine you provide.

Sorry to hear, I am located in San Antonio myself. Did you tow it to Hill County British or S&G Automotive Garage?
Maybe I would scan and post their diagnosis here for us to examine.
Did you get any codes pulled? I have a Gap IID tool but now sure how much help that would be at this point.
IMO for the costs you quoted above for a new engine you could buy an entirely new used LR4.

You can also look on Copart.com for a totaled LR4 to buy and swap out the engine. Some cars you can bid on yourself, others you need a dealer license to bid on, but there is a link on their site to connect to one that will bid on it for you for a small fee.
