I just swapped out my H7 for an H8 and found something in th battery box area that I wondered about? Apparently it’s an outside temp sensor? The connection looks a bit DIY rigged also?

That looks like the battery tender shipping plug. Plenty of posts about the mystery plug. The fuse holder is definitely DIY. Looks like it's just taped to the shipping plug leads.

Does anyone know which battery tender they used with that plug? I always see people asking about the plug, but never have I seen the tender used.

Good question. I imagine a service guy would know? Would it be usable by an owner with a trickle charger?

I just did some more reading. That plug is actually for the transit relay. From Topix:

When the vehicle leaves the factory, a transit relay is fitted to the primary battery positive

terminal. The transit relay is connected to the CJB (central junction box) via the EJB

(engine junction box) which limits the electrical functions to essential items only, to reduce

loads on the battery. The transit relay provides battery power to the starter motor,

generator and the positive jump start terminal. The transit relay must be removed from the

vehicle during the PDI (pre-delivery inspection) .

Just the relay is removed. The wiring is left with the connector capped. The cap often ends up lost.
