I'm wondering if anyone has traveled in Mexico and can share their experience with respect to finding stations that offer high octane petrol and how far apart they are located. I used to drive (pre-LR4) all over Chihuahua, but I never needed to find hi-test gas before, so I don't know the availability.

I would think the bigger question (I don't have the answer, but I suspect) is do you really need "high-test" fuel?

2011 LR4, everything I've read says Yes. But, yeah, good question. Also, is there an additive that will upgrade a tank of 86 to a tank of 90/91?

Ahh Mexican barrel gas, good luck. With the bikes down there best practice is to run fuel through sock filters and even then...

You could carry some VP racing fuel to mix tanks (this is what we do on the bikes) but it can be a PITA for larger volumes.
