I've had to add coolant to my '16 LR4 sporadically over the last 4 years, usually a few ounces just to top off the expansion tank. At 70k miles that's probably not unexpected? Anyway, last week my low coolant light came on and I had to add a lot more. Couple days later, it's on again and took the rest of a gallon bottle. Squeaking belts, so I think it's leaking coolant around the water pump. As I'm driving to the dealership the light comes on again, so I manage to get about 4 ounces that was left in the bottle into the tank when I'm about about a mile away.

Dealership diagnose water pump and front outlet pipes need replacement. $3800. Oof. I'm kind of caught out - there is an indy shop about an hour and a half away, while the dealership is walking distance from my house. So I'd have to either tow the car up, or try and make the drive to the indy shop with a couple of gallons of coolant in tow, then get an Uber back, then pick up the car sometime next week if they could do the work.

Dealership can start on the repair today (Thursday) and have offered me a loaner for the duration of the repair, which might last over the weekend and into early next week.

Anyway, thought I'd share in case anyone else is in the same boat or needs a price to benchmark.

yeah it is mostly labor. WP is probably about $300, coolant crossover [fronts] around $100. coolant, $30. on the v6 i understand the supercharge must come off. none of this is rocket science but it tedious and time consuming. I did our v8 in the driveway recently; took about 6 hours. also did the thermostat and rear heat maniold at same time.

Is "front outlet pipe" the front crossover? I had the coolant system refreshed (front and rear cross overs, hoses between water pump and crossovers, water pump) done on my v8 for ~$1500, so if the 3800 includes those things, then I'd guess you're doing OK. If you're paying to have access cleared, you might as well tackle the other failure prone bits like the rear cross over. Some people have been converting to metal pipes to hopefully resolve the weak plastic part issue.

I Think it is the front crossovers, yeah. it's the upper and lower pipe on the front side.

I thought about asking for the rears to be replaced but I'm already feeling the financial stress

They said front outlet pipes and specifically said the supercharger had to be removed.
