I've had to add coolant to my '16 LR4 sporadically over the last 4 years, usually a few ounces just to top off the expansion tank. At 70k miles that's probably not unexpected? Anyway, last week my low coolant light came on and I had to add a lot more. Couple days later, it's on again and took the rest of a gallon bottle. Squeaking belts, so I think it's leaking coolant around the water pump. As I'm driving to the dealership the light comes on again, so I manage to get about 4 ounces that was left in the bottle into the tank when I'm about about a mile away.
Dealership diagnose water pump and front outlet pipes need replacement. $3800. Oof. I'm kind of caught out - there is an indy shop about an hour and a half away, while the dealership is walking distance from my house. So I'd have to either tow the car up, or try and make the drive to the indy shop with a couple of gallons of coolant in tow, then get an Uber back, then pick up the car sometime next week if they could do the work.
Dealership can start on the repair today (Thursday) and have offered me a loaner for the duration of the repair, which might last over the weekend and into early next week.
Anyway, thought I'd share in case anyone else is in the same boat or needs a price to benchmark.
