I've searched the forums (and other) for a clear answer but the information is all over the place so I'm hoping some of you have hands on experience with fitting your LR4's with oversized tires on the stock 20" wheels.

We have a 2012 LR4 LUX Limited Edition with the 20" Stormer wheels. I was hoping to have a slightly larger sidewall if possible over stock size for added comfort and aesthetic look.

I was considering 275/55r20 as someone else said they fit without any rubbing, but others have said they rub...

Please post your setups on stock 20's but oversized tires if you can. :)

This has been discussed at length on several threads. I am sure since you joined in 2015 you know how to use the search function. The 20" is irrelevant, you can use the same data found for 18" wheels and adjust for the overall dimensions. There are different models of the Stormer wheels. The width and offset are the most important aspect first. 275/55-20 comes to mind. 285 is too wide and not ideal for the narrower stormers anyway. I had the wider RRS SC stormer wheels with 285/50-20 and they just barely rubbed the UCA during extension.

I run 275 55 20s on 8.5x20 RRS wheels with very minimal rubbing(and only when turning right). Stock, no lift rods. This past weekend I met someone who had stormers on his lr3(not sure if OEM stormers or knock offs though) and he was running the same tire size with no rubbing. He had Johnson rods though. 275 55 20 is a good tire size for 20s, I am happy with mine.

There is so much conflicting opinion on tire sizes. Just buy, mount, then see for yourself. Too many variables to definitely say that a tire size will rub or not.

Hey TriniLR4-
Any update on mounting a spare in your larger diameter?

Just curious...

Hi TrinidadLR4,

Question for you, what offset are your RRS rims? I just got a set of 20" 8.5" wide from a 2016 RRS with 47 offset and was trying to decide btw 285/50-20, or 275/55-20 like yours. Like you mentioned there are many variables including offset if rubbing will occur. The tread of the tire makes a difference too, what 275/55-20 model tires you have installed on yours? Thanks!

These are 58 offset, 20x8.5. Yours would be 11mm farther out than mine, which might help the clearance between wheel and tie rod. I think 275 55 20s should fit fine. I run Yokohama Geolandar g05 tires, which are not super chunky or aggressive.

Great, thank you for getting back to me. Interesting you have 58mm, I thought that the RR wheels were all lower offset like mine as the LR4 has 53mm. I wanted them to stick out a little more flushed with the wheel fenders. I just got a set of 275/50-20 nokian winter tires to install on the new rims soon! Then going to decide after the winter on 275 or 285 for the rest of the year.

Can anyone tell me what size tires and rims these are and if you need a lift kit for them? I am looking for the largest tires with the least amount of work. I am trying to replicate one of these two LR4’s.

Those are two pretty different setups, notice how much more tire sidewall the second one has?

The black one looks to have the OEM 10 spoke wheels in black (perhaps painted black by the owner?), with Cooper Discoverer STT tires, and I'd estimate they're 32" and he lifted the truck at least 2-2.5" over factory to make them fit.
