What this cable off the battery positive cable?

I’m currently stuck on the side of the road and am wondering what this cable is going nowhere off the cable to the positive battery terminal. Any thoughts?

I can't find the thread after a quick search but I remember @umbertob explaining that it had something to do with temporary battery or electrical system maintenance while our vehicles are in transit from the factory. I think I got that mostly right.

Thank you. I had to replace my battery a month back and couldn’t remember even seeing that cable before. I searched here and elsewhere and never found an answer. Now I have one.
