I'm perusing the Atlantic British site as I plan to order the IIDTool and noticed they have what looks like the OEM 2" Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver - the one with the Quick Release and a key to lock it in.

My dealer is telling me it will be $635 to purchase from them.
AB has it for $520.

I may be able to buy a used one from my dealer off of a used LR4 they have on their lot for a lot less. But if not, should I assume that what Atlantic British has is the real deal?

cheaper hitch receiver

I bought the Atlantic British version, primarily for hitch-mounted bike racks rather than towing. It is rated lower in terms of towing weight than the LR hitch, and I'm noticing some flex in it when I move the bike rack around (nothing major, but it doesn't feel like the welded-in receiver on my truck).

Depending on your intended use, it may be fine.

Land Rover Rocklin has OEM for $448. I've bought a few things from them (shipped to Montana) and they were great to deal with.

Trolling eBay you will eventually find the hitch for a deal. IMHO it is worth holding out for the new OEM verions LR040248 - it is very well made (albeit too damn expensive). Older versions hang too low, hurting rear clearance and looking goofy.

Thanks, Darth. ;-) I'll go with the newest OEM version. I need to be able to pull a 5K-6K travel trailer.

Dan, you should really look on eBay. Typically able to purchase them there for $350.

This will be the route I go shortly to have a hitch for mine.

Ditto on eBay. I have bought a few things from the Fort Myers Land Rover dealer via EBay, all at very good pricing.

Thanks, All. I think I've got this one covered thanks to a forum member. But there are a lot of good ideas here for other accessories!

I see them regularly on CL here (San Diego) for $250ish... or check out the Curt hitch... its not as clean as the OEM but it gets the job done and is rated to 700lbs too if i remember correctly.

What is the difference/improvements with the LR040248 over the earlier models and how do I tell the difference. Is there a difference in what will work best with my MY14 LR4?

Wow, I was going to recommend the bolt on hitch from Atlantic British, but I see they have raised the price to $300... they started out at $199... Ridiculous.
