I'm not sure why LR keeps changing the model from LR3 to LR4 to LR5. ? I think we are smart enough to just say, "hey, there's a new LR3 platform out!"
Anyway, I like this quote from the story;
"refocused as a more utilitarian model"

Quote:
New details are starting to emerge about the 2016 Land Rover Discovery 5 / LR5.
According to documents attained by Autocar, the SUV will be refocused as a more utilitarian model. Furthermore, the information indicates the Discovery - codenamed the L661 - could ride on the same platform as the redesigned Defender. However, it remains unclear if it will be an all-new chassis or an updated version of the current T5 platform.

Range Rover's stylish Evoque has finally hit Australian shores. But you can't have one because the first 250 examples of the high-riding hatch have already sold out until about May, 2012. There's even strong global demand with more than 32,000 pre-sale orders, far exceeding the company's initial expectations.
The current wait list for the new Evoque in Australia is over six months.

Range Rover Prototype Plug-In Diesel Spied |
|

Green Car Reports that a Diesel Prototype Range Rover was spotted recently in an underground parking lot at a shopping mall in Bristol, U.K. The prototype looks on first glance like a standard white Range Rover Sport.
A similar concept shown at Geneva, most likely this prototype too, was powered by a high-efficiency, turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 clean diesel engine, with a 69-kilowatt (93-hp) electric motor sandwiched between the engine and an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
With a 14.2-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack, the range_e was said to offer an all-electric range of up to 20 miles, a combined diesel-electric range of 690 miles, and a range-sapping top speed of 120 mph.
As for the photos, Green Car suspects a high-ranking development engineer at Land Rover was simply testing a running prototype in real-world use over the weekend--and happened to stop by for a bit of charge at the local mall.

Revised Land Rover DC100 Headed for 2011 LA Auto Show |
|
Nov 04, 2011 - 7:29 PM - by Slam
|
As reported last week, the current generation Defender may still be around until 2017, but this may only be true for the D110 as the D90 is slated to be replaced by the DC100 in 2015.
In speaking about the DC100, Land Rover Global Brand Director John Edwards explained "Sometimes we talk too much about the NAS 90 Defender and surfer dudes, and not enough about the Red Cross, Zambia or the Australian Outback. We want to get back to our roots, but it would be nice if in doing so, we can also sell it to the Californian surfer dude."
Auto Evolution reports that Land Rover will be showing off the newest revision of the DC100 next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. We have to believe that the newest revision of the Defender will be headed to back to the U.S.

These pictures were taken in the Dubai Desert and were published by GT Spirit. As we already reported, the weight of the vehicle is expected to have a massive drop of over 900lbs. Fuel economy is expected to be improved due to this weight reduction as well as a revised power train that will have a number of options including a diesel engine and an automatic gearbox with a start-stop system. A more impressive 5.0 liter supercharged V8 as well as a hybrid is in the pipeline as well.
The design will remain essential the same, with a few changes. LED daytime running lights will be added to the new Range Rover. The edges of the car will be rounded off and the road presence will be increased. The interior will be more spacious and full of gadgets.
The new Range Rover will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next March. The SUV will hit the markets in the summer of 2012. The price tag is likely to increase.
