    Considering 2008 LR2 HSE

I have a 2008, and the biggest thing to look out for is the rear differential. It should not be making any noise. If it is, the repair bill is expensive. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Suspension Fault

This is a great thread- thanks to everyone. One idea- has anyone tried taking one to a competent starter/alternator repair shop? I do this with aircraft alternators and various oddball actuator motors all the time and the shop near my house does a better job than the manufacturers for...

    Awesome LR Flatirons Trip!!!

It was a great trip. Total cost for hotel, meals and all was less than $500, plus our fuel, etc. I have to say that this dealership is one of the best run businesses I've had the pleasure of doing business with. Car dealers are usually notorious bastards to deal with on every level...as if...

    Joined the club...

Looks great. You'll be happy and you'll meet people you never imagined. Yesterday I parked next to another LR3 at a Marriott in Albuquerque and as luck would have it, the owner was just walking to it to leave. We got talking and next thing I knew I was giving him a demo of how and when to use...

    Overheating problems

Sure- they can be defective and bind closed. Make sure you use a genuine Land Rover thermostat and not a Stant from Autozone. Also make sure you pay super close attention to the correct orientation of the thermostat in the housing. It's possible that yours was put in backwards -- I've seen that...

    New LR3 Owner :)

I enjoyed reading your post, Rhazer. Welcome to the forum and to the Land Rover family. I love my LR3 too. You pretty much found the most consistent trouble spots with these rigs- bushings and rear brakes, though usually the culprit is the electric parking brake. Dave

Has Anyone Had An Exhaust Leak At Manifold??

Should be pretty easy to distinguish a lifter tick from a manifold leak. A manifold leak will get considerably louder under acceleration and can usually be heard inside the vehicle. A lifter tick will just tick away. My LR3 ticks a little bit (lifters) and it's audible from beside the right...

How Do I Lubricate Wheel Centers??

Also make sure to apply anti-seize to the lug nut threads and tapers. Makes torquing them properly possible, and ensures an easier time of removal. Dave

Problems with Rear Suspension and Handling

Couple of quick replies (eyes getting very sleepy) 1/ Yes, bending would be a factor the more the bolt loosens. Omitted for brevity. :-) 2/ Unless it's a stretch bolt, the effects of loosening and re-torquing the bolt should not affect the bolt's strength, unless you over-torque it. Torque...

Problems with Rear Suspension and Handling

Thanks for connecting the dots, Ryan. This is an interesting thread as are the others. Just read every post with great interest. Couple of observations. Looks like 2 folks have said that they found loose rear control rod bolts when they investigated a slight shimmy or directional instability. It...

    Weird cornering performance - Help

Thanks Bluebird- was hoping for something of a warning sign to look for. Ah well.

    Tire tread differences

OK, if the diff is totally open on the LR3, then it would appear slight size differences should be a non-issue. Dave

    Weird cornering performance - Help

Was there any whining or noise coming from that side of the rear end?

    Tire tread differences

Does the LR3 with the rear locker have a completely open diff when it's not locked? Dave
