    My Love/Hate relationship with LR

July of 2009, the Military stationed us back home in CO. Coming from TX we had a Jetta TDI for a commuter car. But knowing that CO winters can be nasty, we wanted something 4WD. The search began. I wanted something diesel, with 7 passenger capability. Those are hard to come by in the US...

I am doing well. Starting to get insanely busy with the shipments coming up. Sorry to hear you're leaving CO so soon. Godspeed in Georgia and the rest of your career. I am sure we'll keep in touch here off and on? J.D.

    Child safety seat locations?

Yep, that's the only way around it. Ours just turned around a month ago and it's been really nice, but I still have him in the center so he can see and we can help him with things easier.

Great to see folks pushing these that hard. You are braver than I, but I also have a specialized rig I built for just that. The LR3 was for the milder family trips.

Eightlug - thanks for sharing! Sorry to hear about the tire. That is a good set of trails! Houm_WA - Some pretty knarly stuff! You go thru a fair amount of suspension bushings I'd imagine!

That is awful thick and adds much weight. I am confused as well, but I don't think it's 3/4" thick. most bumpers are built with 3/16" thick.

You bet. Both worth the trip. Snow on both trails are the issue now, but high water is also an issue with spring runoff on Halfmoon. It'd be a long day, but you could run Mosquito first thing, then drop into Leadville and hit the Halfmoons. I'd do North Halfmoon first. South halfmoon may...

No, they are opposite sides of the highway. Mosquito runs from near the town of Alma down into Leadville heading west. Both Halfmoons are dead ends running from Leadville west.

5th annual Crawl 4 Christ, Moab, UT June 6-9

Check out www.crawl4christ.com So sorry I hadn't posted this earlier. I am planning to be there and have registered. Camping is at Ron's campground and free to military members. The bad news is that up until now we had the whole place reserved, but as of May 1st, Ron asked that we open...

The Air Force is moving us to Germany this summer and while I'd love to keep it, the price of fuel over there could put a damper on the traveling we expect to do. So we're selling and will buy a couple diesel sedans once we get there. J.D.

We posted at the same time. Yeah, I've done South. There is one creek crossing that was knarly at the time, but it changes so much. I thought I saw a thread on CO4x4 of someone running it last fall. South HM starts with a fairly deep creek crossing and from what I hear, is hard to find...

The only time I have been there, the gate was closed to vehicle traffic, but you can get there on foot. Just to clarify, this is North Half Moon. South Half Moon is just as fun, but no cool mine structure at the end.

If so, you would have seen this at the end of the trail: (champion Mill)
