LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

I pulled the two in the engine compartment in the fuse box next to the battery. Both had the gas pump symbol. One is a relay and the other is a fuse.

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

Not sure if a bad expansion valve would cause a leak in the evap. But before I took the dash apart, I would make damn sure the issue was one of those two parts. I think I would at a minimum, confirm there are no leaks in any of the accessible plumbing (spraying soapy water?), and have someone...

    New engine noise

I can't imagine it went 40k without an oil change. I would assume there was at least one in that time period that wasn't reported to carfax. Certainly, none of the DIY work on my cars will be reported to carfax.

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

It could just be a blend door issue. From limited experience with replacing blend door motors, I believe if the blend door that closes the heater core off when the ac is on, doesn't close all the way, then you will get heat mixed with the cold air. I had this issue on an F150 and a Suburban...

    New engine noise

There is a definite difference between the two videos. Strange (but good) that it seems to have gone away. Now you will be even more hypersensitive to engine noises everytime you start it up. Rover paranoia is brutal.

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

Didn't realize that should/could be checked with a compression test, but can do that today. I did a dry test, no oil. So, let me get this straight... Spray some oil in them, run the compression test again, and see how fast the pressure leaks down? Am I seeing how much pressure is lost over...

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

Wanted to post the compression test results and see if any of you have some thoughts on whats going on. This was done on a cold engine with the throttle plate closed. Overall, the compression doesn't look too bad. Cylinder 4 is the somewhat of an outlier at 158 psi, still not completely out...

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

Have you pulled a vacuum on the system to see if it holds? The only other thing I can think of is that your blower/blend doors are not functioning properly, or intermittently. Have you seen any codes for those? I'm not sure moisture from the cowl issue would cause any corrosion issues... the...

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

Legit question... and my logic is basically that if the head has a crack and no coolant has degraded the oil, then it is less likely that there are deeper engine problems caused by the engine running with degraded oil. This helps me rationalize the idea of repairing the engine instead of...

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

Thats good to hear. Curious where you are seeing those prices. I was looking around and most remans were between $10-13K for the engine only. As an update... I extracted some oil yesterday, and there doesn't seem to be any coolant in it. i.e. its not milky... looks like regular oil...

Yes, this. @txfromwi has a highly detailed video explaining it:

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

Yeah... I had a feeling this might happen at some point, but was hoping to get a few more years out of it before I put it out to pasture. Its such a beautiful vehicle. It never over-heated on me, always ran great. However, I bought it knowing it previously had an engine failure, which was...

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

The results are in... exhaust gas test turned yellow pretty quick. I'm not happy. Looking for next steps to determine solution. I assume a compression test is in order, but hoping you guys can help me get a game plan together, as i may be out of my league on this one.

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

Nightmare scenarios are head gasket and cracked block/head, for sure. I am just curious if I should perform the exhaust gas test or flush coolant to eliminate a potential air pocket issue first. What's strange is, when I started it up this morning, there was zero vapor cloud, with similar...

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

Reviving this thread... I started the engine this morning and a large cloud of white smoke/vapor blew out of the exhaust pipes. That never happened before and it dissipated pretty quickly, so its not oil, and it stopped emitting any vapor at all after about 30 seconds. I have noticed that the...
