I know. I hear you. Even the initial screw up was addressed quickly. They ended up sending me a steel rack box and the ratchet straps as amends...even though I didn't ask them for anything.
So, my intention is to be cool about it...but, again, almost $2k... ~ 8 months lead time...and now two...
Ah. I see what you are saying. In my photo that front mounting position is right next to the vertical bar. In the instructions, that mounting position looks like it is several inches to the rear. This is what I feared. I am going to revise my email to them. They can either send me the...
Even with the half rails... the rack is just mounted to rails....not directly to the roof. I have to defer to them on the engineering...
I (have tried) to attached the full length instructions here... I am reasonably handy with things like this... but, even so, it's pretty much impossible to...
Yeah... that's kind of a can of worms. But, here is the short version...
When I bought it... I told them which rails I had...and sent them pictures... which is part of the process (as you know).
They sent me the wrong hardware originally...and the wrong instructions. They sent me the...
Do you mean the stainless steel Gobi bolt? If so, then no. If you mean the Landrover Torx screw that is at the bottom of the rail (not visible in pics or at the moment).. then, maybe. In pic 3... which shows the plastic "slopy" cover that transitions from the rail to the rooftop... there is...
I am attaching photos to this post. You can see where the front bracket of the rack is all the way forward on the rail. I thought maybe to pull off the sloped cover, cutting off the little 2" tab... that would allow me to slide everything up a bit more. (but, there is a screw in the rail there...
Hi
So, long delay in responding here. Gobi sent me out new hardware... but I never installed it because my wife didn't like it.
Fast forward to Sunday, and I tried to install it and ran into a major problem.
The rack sits way too far back and the ladder (at least) hits the tailgate.
I have...
Thanks for the reply. The front trim piece is present...so I think I am fine there. Pretty disappointing that the Gobi website/sales team didn't say anything about me needing to buy additional OEM parts to complete the install. The options on the site only ask whether "OEM rails" are present...
I am installing my new Gobi Ranger rack on my '16 LR4.
My LR4 has the extended OEM roof rails that reach all the way to the A-pillars. The instruction manual appears to be entirely set up for an LR4 with the short roof rails...the ones that only stay to the rear of the "swoop" over the...
Not sure how best to frame this...but there just seems to be a lot of uncertainty surrounding what tires will and will not fit on 20" wheels (especially and specifically the OEM wheels) with and without Johnson Rods (or a similar product). So, perhaps the moderators have an idea as to how we...
Thanks everyone. I will put all 4 back on this week (at the same time) and update the thread with results. Hopefully the moral of the story/conclusion, is just to make sure that all get installed at the same time, without turning the car on in between.
Thanks again.
Thanks Will...I appreciate the quick response. I was able to drive it up on the driveway cutout, and get under there to put the stock sensor rods back on. Restarted the truck and it cleared all of the faults...so...that begs the question...
How do you run Johnson Rods on a '16 LR4 without...
