Woah. That is impressive, but I am looking to spend less money, not more. This truck barely sees grass, and the road debris was a fluke. Thanks though. I'm sure others will be interested in that.
I guess the suspension compressor cover took a whack from some road debris, because I noticed it was broken and hanging down, then a couple days later it was gone. Fortunately, the compressor and the suspension still seem to work fine. I found a few discussions on here about the two different...
Sorry to start a new thread, but what I am experiencing doesn't seem to correspond to what all the threads say. I recently got the warning light on the dash for rear brake pads. My bad. I put the truck up on the lift and replaced pads and the sensor. However, the light remains on the dash...
Yes, I was using a 3/8" ratchet with about an 18" handle on it. That plus my 6' and 200lbs, and I am able to generate plenty of torque.
BTW, thanks KTM525 for providing the tech with the actual specs.
According to the interwebs, I think they are supposed to be torqued to 129ftlbs? I torqued them to "as tight as I could make them". They aren't going anywhere.
Nope, I have owned this truck since new, and I only let the dealer touch it for big jobs that I can't handle. Like I said, I lubed...
FWIW, I gave them all a shot of lube a couple weeks prior when I had the truck up the first time, and discovered those stupid 12pt bolts. But as I said, I didn't even need to use a torque wrench, just a long handled ratchet, not even a cheater bar.
I recently had a front brake problem that was causing a shudder under high speed braking. I replaced both the rotors and the brake pads. I thought I would write up the general procedure, because it is really not hard. I didn’t see an existing thread.
You could probably do this job in your...
While it was up on the lift, I removed both the skid plates. Neither had any fluid on them, and I didn't see anything on the bottom of the engine, either. I will take the engine cover off and take a look at the top side. I'll also take another look at the front of that black tray to see if I...
If that is actually transmission fluid, then I have two problems, because there is definitely fluid dripping off the transmission that does not appear to be coming from somewhere else, and I have a steady coolant drain of some kind. I have topped up the tank twice in the last few weeks.
I noticed when my wife departed for work before me that there was a small damp patch on the driveway. Over the last couple weeks, it has grown from about 6" to about 12" across. The liquid is on the passenger side, to the rear of the front wheels, essentially under the passenger seat area. I...
It is bad enough that the truck doesn't have a dipstick, but the procedure to check the oil is complete bullshit. How did it ever pass muster to have to drive the truck around for a while to get it up to temperature, then park it and let it sit for 10min to check the oil level? What should be...
I got the yellow check engine light on start up last night. Fortunately, I was only a couple blocks from home. There is an AutoZone right down the street, so I went to go get codes read today - P0171 and P0174. I have an appointment for them to come pick up the car on Tuesday. It's still...
What would be interesting to see, and is notably absent, is any kind of comparison dyno plot so you could see the difference in the HP and torque curves.
What is even more annoying (asinine) is that it enters this "guess where I'm going" mode even when you have a destination entered into the nav and it knows exactly where you are going. Hopefully the fix works.
I have taken a couple long trips (500mi +), and averaged right around 20mpg while averaging 70mph. Typically, I am doing 70-80mph on the highway (usually 10 mph over). Best I have seen was 20.8mpg on a long stretch of 55mph zone. This is on a 2013 HSE truck with just family and luggage on board.
Pricing one out on landrover.com shows the heated front and rear seats, heated front windshield, heated mirrors, but no mention of the heated steering wheel as a standard feature. Unless I am just overlooking it somehow.
Currently have a 2013 HSE, looking at trading in for a new HSE LUX. I don't see anything that mentions the heated steering wheel. Has that feature gone away? If so, when? One of the few amenities I actually enjoy, wish my BMW had it.
I think there was about 6" of clearance. It has been 6 months or so since I did the job. The drain plug is facing straight forward towards the front and level.
Yes, any decently large puddle hit with any kind of speed swamps the front window. I'm not even sure how it is physically possible. Rain-x helps clear it more rapidly, but I don't know how to keep it from happening in the first place.
I wouldn't trust what the dealer says for a moment. I would be willing to bet that your pads are maybe 50% or below but not used up, and your rotors are probably fine. Unless you have a lot of miles, or drive a lot of stop and go city miles, or tow a lot, or similar.
I went old school on my oil change, as I have ready access to a lift. Having never done it before, I thought I would try it from underneath rather than shelling out for the pump. Getting the skid plate off and on was not terribly difficult, even without help. That thing does have some heft to...
We normally run two seats in the 2nd row, and the 3rd in the back. We had a Britax Marathon facing forward behind the driver's seat for our 3yr old and a Chicco Keyfit 30 for our baby behind the passenger. The baby has now transitioned to another Britax Marathon facing backwards. My oldest is...
