Replacing Stock Air Box with Round K&N Air Filter

Strike while the iron is hot, and all that! It has quite a growler to it now, which is great off road in the woods. I enjoy it around town too, although it gets quite a bit louder from time to time (:

Replacing Stock Air Box with Round K&N Air Filter

Wow, now that's worth doing for sure! I'll have to check into that mod. Thanks for pointing me in that direction! Also, I appreciate the extra information about the K&N. Sounds like it would be more hassle than it's worth.

Replacing Stock Air Box with Round K&N Air Filter

Now that's a fair point Houm_WA, 8 HP isn't much of an increase from 300. I'd really like a bit more sound from the engine too though, it sounds a bit like a sedan at the moment.

Replacing Stock Air Box with Round K&N Air Filter

I've just read through several independent dyno tests with these K&N filters and In some cases the gains were in the 25 HP range. Although that 25 HP number was for a full intake tube replacement with the new filter on a 2010 Camaro. In a test with an 07 Tundra, the gains were small, but better...

Ah, here we go! Some very detailed research, with independent testing completed. I'm now leaning toward trying one of these.

Replacing Stock Air Box with Round K&N Air Filter

K&N swears up and down that it's impossible for their filter oil to come off and damage an MAF sensor. They write about it all over the Internet, and I even found this video with a test to determine if filter oil could come off their filters and they found it couldn't. Makes me wonder if any...

Replacing Stock Air Box with Round K&N Air Filter

Yes, I had heard some folks say the MAF sensor can get damaged by the K&N's, then I read other posts saying that it was impossible for that to happen. Seems more think it does damage them, than think it doesn't, so I may stick with the safer option. Reason to install one would be a small...

Replacing Stock Air Box with Round K&N Air Filter

For anyone who may run across this, I checked on this forum here: http://landroverforums.com/forum/lr3-28/k-n-air-filter-good-bad-lr3-19493/which seems to indicate pretty definitively, that the MAF sensor will be ruined by the K&N type filter. "K&N air filters will kill any Bosch MAF within...

Replacing Stock Air Box with Round K&N Air Filter

Thanks for the reply! Yes, that seems to be the general consensus, but it also seems that in every thread there's a post or two which seems to leave the question open. Some people say it messes with the MAP sensor, others say it doesn't. Some say the truck can't handle it, others say it can...

Replacing Stock Air Box with Round K&N Air Filter

Hi All, I'm thinking of replacing the stock air box in my 07 LR3 with the 4.4 V8, with a round K&N high flow air filter. Basically, I would leave everything from the stock air box back (including the MAP sensor) in place and only replace the air box. I've read through several posts here on...

    New Disco Owner (07 LR3 - HSE)

Thanks man, buying used I wasn't able to pick the color, but I really like it too. Also, I appreciate that information about using the correct lubricant, very helpful to know that. I'm guessing I should go with these orange ones: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/LR025159POLYO Also, wondering if...

    New Disco Owner (07 LR3 - HSE)

Hi All! Wanted to introduce myself, and share a few photos of my new truck with you all. Had one of the top Land Rover mechanics in the country check it out, and everything is in great shape. Only issue noted, was the need to replace the front lower control arm bushings. No big deal, but if...
