Question about the factory hitch reciever

I'll measure mine, I'm pretty sure it was extending out much further than that when manually pushing the release pin. I'd guess over an inch by memory. I know that there's a detent ball that just becomes exposed on the bottom side of the locking pin. When you say "you should feel it protruding...

Question about the factory hitch reciever

No matter what I do I can't get mine to rotate any more than to where the green handle is horizontal when I put it pin looks to be extended about half way into the hole before it stops. On mine, the only way that I can get the pin to go out is if I manually push in the release pin. Is yours...

    Trailer Wiring

The dummy plugs are attached to brackets and they're a bit more towards the top and rear of the cavity than the ones for the tail lights. When you remove them from the brackets you then remove the dummy plugs which will have no wires coming out of them.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

A big thanks to @Pfunk951 for this excellent write-up. I did this pan retrofit/fluid change this past weekend and it all went extremely well. A couple tricky/fiddly steps, but it all worked out. I used the kit from RoverParts.com and the real ZF fluid. It took me about 3 1/2 hours total. The...

    Trailer Wiring

I just installed their kit this past weekend and everything plugged right in. Is it possible that you're using the wrong connections behind the taillight? They should be connected to dummy plugs from the factory, not the ones that actually go to the taillight as you'd use on many other vehicles...

Two LR4 Questions (Windshield & USB)

The brochure is available here: http://www.motorologist.com/car-brochures/land-rover-brochures/ In the Land Rover LR4 HSE LUX exterior includes section on page 44 it says "Heated windscreen including heated washer jets"

Question about the factory hitch reciever

Thanks - that is exactly what I needed to see. I don't think my green knob is rotating that far forward.

Question about the factory hitch reciever

Has anyone used the factory hitch receiver? I need to sort this out by Friday when I'm planning to tow a car.

Two LR4 Questions (Windshield & USB)

The lines are definitely visible on mine, same as in the LR3s that I've test driven.

Question about the factory hitch reciever

Hi Everyone, I recently bought the newest style (shorter) hitch receiver for my LR4. When I seat it up into the receptacle in the bumper, the release pin at the top compresses and the larger locking pin at the back extends, but it looks like it's only coming out about 1/4" and just catching on...

    Trailer Wiring

No, you have to install it. There's a kit from Land Rover, or Atlantic British makes a kit that uses the same connectors for about half price.

Long term plan for the LR4

The LR4 tranny is the same as the LR3 and there are plenty of them with over 200K on them. I'm not sure how many had tranny work done, but given the cost to value I'd assume that most are in the original tranny.

    Windshield

The OEM Windshield replacement for our Evoque a couple months ago, which probably has most of the same features (rain sensor, heated, etc) was $1,200 at the local dealer's preferred place. The clips are cheap, be sure to do them.

    Found an LR4, a couple pre-purchase questions...

We went the other way. I spent about a month in an LR4 loaner last year while my wife's Evoque was in the shop and ended up buying one because I liked it so much.

    LR4 Favorite Year?

Oh, this site has scans of most year LR4 brochures: http://www.auto-brochures.com/land_rover.html While you're there, check out the cool 1948 and 50's brochures for the Series 1.

    LR4 Favorite Year?

Yep, the Lux got the single Xenons with the LED running lights. The Vision Assist package adds bi-xenons that turn with the car, auto high-beams, and the surround cameras, and was available on either HSE or Lux, just with a slightly lower price on Lux due to the overlap. I found the same thing...

Prep for Timing Chain Guides Work

I'm curious too. The CPO warranty on the 2011 that I recently bought expires next month. Wondering if there's something that I should be looking for.

    LR4 Favorite Year?

The 5.0L V8 in the 2010-2013 LR4s have more hp and torque than the SC V6 in the 2014-2016s and I believe only one mpg less, so most people seem t prefer the 8. They all have probably had their water pump replaced by now, but otherwise both engines seem to have proven to be very reliable. For...

    Velar?

Ah, I missed that. In that case, they do seem to have a lot of models in the same space, unless the Velar really is an on-road performance model like the Macan.

    Velar?

I saw the Macan and X6 guesses in early articles when the model was first rumored, but that seems to have toned down as the true model details have come out. Now newer articles all just seem to say F-type based SUV bigger than Evoque, smaller than RRS.
  21. JWA33

    Velar?

It does seem like they're splitting hairs if they try to slot a model between the Evoque and RRS. I haven't seen it reported this way anywhere, but it would make more sense if this was going to replace the RRS. The RRS is on the now-discontinued LR4 platform, so they're going to have to...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I read in the LR3 threads that some of these pans are lower capacity than the stock plastic pan, not sure how this applies to those options.

    Weight distribution hitch

What is the price of the Rhino hitch? It's odd to me that it is not listed on their website and is only available if you know the guy who knows the guy to send a private message. I'm not sure how much I trust a product that is that important if there aren't clearly published details of the...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I saw that and have used RM European for years with great results. I just wasn't sure what to think about the fluid. So, for the purpose of this thread, there appears to be three types of fluid that at least some vendors identify as Land Rover part number LRN1375: Febi Bilstein, ~$10/liter...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Did you find a good source for the tranny fluid? Best I'm finding for the ZF labelled version is $21/liter from RoverParts. Six of those plus the ~$125 shipped for the kit from Rimmer wouldn't leave much room for your diff/TC fluids, so you must have found a deal somewhere.
