LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

I’m really sorry about the news. That’s super unfortunate to hear. Did you ever notice any over heating issues?

Greasy transmission, should I be worried?

137k. The truck has been in California its whole life facing hills and mountains in hot heat, plus with 6000 pounds to push around and an AWD system putting more load on it, I wasn’t surprised.

Greasy transmission, should I be worried?

I have to do both of mine this summer and reseal my upper timing covers. The hard part is pulling the injectors and buying the tool to do so. Then since your pulling them you might as well get them cleaned.

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

head gasket... sorry to be the bearer of bad news. these are all just classic bad head gasket symptoms. I believe you can buy a tester kit to put on top of the expansion tank and it will turn a fluid a certain color if there are exhaust gasses in the coolant. thats the first thing I would do...

My 2012 LR4 is not starting anymore, help please

when you say "won't start" how long are you cranking it for? did the issue suddenly appear or did it happen and then start taking longer and longer? any codes?

    Long crank, no faults

Coming back to this, mine burned up too! I rewired it but need to go back and do it in a better way to avoid heat. Did you ever find the root?

Greasy transmission, should I be worried?

I’ve had mine done when my trans blew. Wouldn’t even touch one unless you already have to remove the trans. In another note, the D5 with the SCV6 that my parents have had to get one done at 30k miles under warranty, that one was probably just bad luck tho.

Greasy transmission, should I be worried?

Definitely valve cover, I have the same thing because my valve covers are shot. It drips down the back of the engine while driving.

    5.0 metal rear coolant manifold

Weird… my front one never went bad (before it was replaced) it was the rear crossover that blew up with no warning.

Pulling injectors for valve cover gasket, can I avoid it?

Ok so is final Verdict that you have to pull injectors when you pull the valve cover? You can’t just rotate them? Will it mess up the seals?

Different oil level readings with hood open

do you guys ever use the "oil level calculated" value in the IID tool? When I do an oil change I measure that value right 20 mins after changing the oil and then I will occasionally check that value when the car is cold, fill it a bit, start the engine and run it for 5 seconds and then shut it...

Pulling injectors for valve cover gasket, can I avoid it?

this is what I was wondering, if i rotate them could I pull it off or will it compromise the seal? I really want to avoid pulling them, I've heard the nightmares of others and I haven't had issues with the injectors throughout the entire life span of my engine. plus if i do pull them then i face...

Pulling injectors for valve cover gasket, can I avoid it?

It is, I've been spectating the leak for ages. my upper timing cover is covered in oil fuzz and it starts to get liquid residue right under the passenger side upper timing cover. And my right side valve cover is leaking, I've seen smoke coming off the exhaust manifold on the drivers side, you...

    Alternative sound system

Positive is routed from the battery and then grounded to one of the ground points for the taillights. You don’t want to ground anything to the battery negative terminal because it messes with the charging system.

Pulling injectors for valve cover gasket, can I avoid it?

So finally the time has come. 4 years ago I noticed a bit of a leak developing from my LH valve cover gasket and my RH upper timing cover and valve cover gasket however ive never throught twice about it, just check the oil level live value on the IID tool every once and a while (when the car is...

    Injector failure?

Swapped the coil and the spark plug and cleared the codes to see if the misfire would follow but strangely enough the issue is now gone… drove the car 30ish miles today with frequent moderate accelerations and I couldn’t recreate the issue. It’s really weird but the issue was also routinely and...

    Injector failure?

Wow I did not know that but you guys are totally right. Again tho they are still pretty unspecific all suggesting the same thing but that makes it a lot easier because now I can swap the coil and plug with another cylinder and see if the issue follows. Also you can clear codes, you just can’t...

    Injector failure?

Hey guys, currently chasing a misfire issue with my parents discovery 5 (3.0L SCV6). The issue started with the car making a bucking sensation when accelerating up hill under moderate (3.5k-4k rpm) and has slowly gotten worse over time. The issue always seems to exist when the car is under load...

    Increased Performance

if you really want better brakes I've seen some people fit the 10-13 RRS Supercharged 6 piston brake calipers to LR4. Only problem is you cant fit 18 inch wheels on them.

    ZF8HP70 for ZF6HP28 swap?

If you can figure out a way to get the ZF8 speed into v8 LR4s you’ll hit the holy grail. The fuel efficiency and acceleration boost for the NA V8 would be so significant. Personally not a fan of the slush box zf6hp26 I have in my 2010, already tore through one and don’t need to tear through another.

Loosing a little bit of coolant

Yup, every time I take the LR4 on a trip I fear I’ll be stranded due to a cooling issue. It really is a poor decision to use plastic that just rots out in heat, especially in the summer here in California.

Loosing a little bit of coolant

Hey guys, over the past couple of weeks that I’ve been driving my LR4 I’ve noticed a bit of coolant loss. Nothing crazy but over the last 1k miles I’ve noticed that it’s dropped into the middle of the two full lines on the expansion tank. The water pump was done around 75k miles and I have 146k...

    Los Angeles has them.

    Overheating issue! LR4 2016 SCV6

did mine around 105, another indication is just how much the car will shake at idle.
