    Rear wheel bearing DIY

Thanks for the link, although it's a bit hard to understand, I wish they spoke "American" on that board! "I had to give it some welly with a lump hammer!" What the heck does that mean? So from that thread I gather I need my wheel bearing press. I'm first going to try the e-brake bedding...

    Rear wheel bearing DIY

I have a metallic noise coming from the right rear that is wholly speed dependent - it doesn't matter if I'm hitting the brakes or not. It sounds like other bad wheel bearings I've experienced. Does anybody have a DIY on rear wheel bearing replacement? Looking at parts drawings it looks like...

Yep, Ferodo is the OEM supplier. I just put Bendix (MKD1098IQ) on the front and they work fine.

    Hitch Question

When I was pulling my race car on my old steel trailer it was not balanced very well. even with the car as far back as I could get it I still had almost 1,000 pounds of tongue weight. By the way, if you trailer much a $90 tongue weight scale is a great investment. Anyway I used a weight...

    Hitch Question

Broiler - Did you get the hitch you put up the link for and did it work? In my experience in trying to find a hitch with 3 or 4 inches of lift is that the shank is not long enough and will not clear the goofy Land Rover receiver hitch contraption. I'm currently using an old weight...

Towing - Who has towed what?

I use my LR3 to tow my race car all the time - I think it's great. I have a 16' Trailex open trailer, recently upgraded from ugly, heavy steel. I figure it, the Porsche, 2 extra sets of wheels, gas cans and spares I'm around 4,500 lbs. The old steel trailer was about 1,500 pounds heavier and...

who doesnt have a side fender mount intake?

Now that Taurus' have them their cool-factor is going way down. It's hard to associate any cool factor with any part of a Taurus.

    Roof Rack Whistle Noise

No whistle here, but I've only ever had my cross bars in place with a snowboard carrier attached, so I can't say that's a good test

    Bluetooth Restart

I have no idea why, but turning the radio off has worked for me. I discovered by accident once when my bluetooth didn't pair up I turned the radio off so I could hear over the phone and - voila - I was on speaker. Cheers Randy

Removing the phone in the console

Nope, that's really why I wanted to get rid of the phone, to get more in there. With the phone in place the little plastic tray can only be placed facing up. To get more in the fridge it can be turned over Cheers Randy

Removing the phone in the console

Just a follow up. Cuttting the wires did the trick, everything, including th bluetooth still works fine. Cheers Randy

2007 LR3 owners, how has the quality been so far?

06 SE with 12k. The only issue has been tire wear.

    Heavy Towing

Really the question on the Weight Distributing hitch is how much tongue weight do you have? 500lbs or less it's not needed. I bought a tongue weight scale for less than $100 and would recommend you do so. You may find that you can move the boat on the trailer enough to substantially adjust...

Removing the phone in the console

Looks as thought cutting the wires it is. I'll be sure to yell "commitment!" as I do it! My goal is pretty modest, actually. I'd like to be able to put 16oz water bottles in the fridge. Thanks Randy

Removing the phone in the console

Does anybody know how to remove the useless phone cradle from the center console? Failing that, does anybody kow how to remove the 'fridge? I'm tempted to just cut the wires and insulate them to make sure they don't short out. I do use the bluetooth, so I don't want to disrupt that. TIA...

under 15k miles, you get alignment and tires

I have tires that are wearing unevenly, and at 11,000 miles I got a free alignment and told that only one of the tires was worn badly enough to qualify for warranty coverage. The "coverage" was the offer of 50% pro-rata on the 1 tire. The dealers "50% off" price is about what you can buy one...

    Boat towing question

I had no problems pulling a 7000 pd trailer with mine. It sounds like you know this already, but be aware the tongue weight max is only 500 pounds. You need to make sure you're not over. As has been discussed here, LR does not recommend a weight distributing hitch, but they have been used...

    LR3 Travel Trailer Towing Experience

I pulled my racecar with my LR3 using a WDH with no issues whatsoever. The trailer, car and everything was about 7,000lbs, with about 800lbs tongue weight without using the WDH. IMO the 500lb tongue weitgh max is more important that not using the WDH. I have since upgraded to an aluminum...

    Tire Rotation

I don't know if all have it, but my 2006 SE has a sensor in each wheel. If a tire gets low you just get a tire-with-exclamation-point idiot light which doesn't tell you which tire is low. Because the sensors are not wheel-specific, as with some sensor systems you can rotate them without a...

    BRAKES v DOWNSHIFTING

I think the tradeoff in wear on your brake system and engine / tranny is an easy call. It doesn't strain the drivetrain much, if at all, and especially as heavy as LR3's are they will abuse brakes if they are they only thing you use to control speed down hill. I followed a loaded van down from...
