I have a 98 Discovery 4.0 with 129k. 6 months ago after cleaning the motor, the idle started at 2k to 25k RPM. After research I replaced the stepper motor. This DID NOT fix the problem immediatley, they 3 days later POOOOF normal Idle.
Now about a month ago again I cleaned the motor and again the high idle started (a little lower between 1500 & 2k) about a week later FRUSTRATED!! I turned the engine off when it was fully warmed up then started it again and the idle was perfect. This is where I'm at today start the truck let it warm up fully turn off engine and idle is fine. Some have suggested replacing the TPS (potentiometer) any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
