Bolts falling in sump of 2.5 Litre Pet

I have dicovered two botls, 1/4 USC x 1/2 inch, with multi-eared locking washers, in the bootom of my sump pan. The bots are waisted and smooth near the heads, indicating they were installed loose and had a vibrating or moving component against them.

I have searched the manuals in vain, cant find anywhere in the oil pump etc they could come from. Any ideas before I srip my engine in vain?

Hi Peter Interesting that you shoul find unidentified bolts in you sump. I have been scratching my head to identify a small smooth (half inch long) rounded peice of steel with a beveled end that I recently found in my sump. I too can not find it in any manual. Any clues would be apreciated . 1985 defender 90 owner
