New freelander owner request

I just bought a freelander 2 (june 2000) and i do appreciate beeing part of the furum. I expect to start using my car tomorrow but i have 2 concerns :
- the user manual is in German : how do i get an english or a french version?
- the driver who brought the car told me he had to place to key to position 1 or 2 before connecting the batterie to be able to start the engine ( i wonder as per previous posted messages that the batterie may have ran out of energy) - Any advise ?

Manual = http://www.landroverresource.com/ just download the first link, the manual is included in English.

Second item could either be a bad battery or the alarm system is in a very odd state.

They should be able to help. If you have a 2000 it is a Freelander not a FreelanderII/LR2 as they were introduced in 2007 HTH
