Any advise on this would be greatly appreciated.
I have just overhauled a 300Tdi motor-totally. New pistons, rings, turbo, cylinder head, rebore, crank mains and big ends.
Started last night, runs fine, but sounds a bit rattly. When she warms up, betting a rattling sound that rises and falls with engine revs. Have opened each injector, but problem isn't isolated to 1 cylinder.
Have since taken motor out again, and stripped totally. Was hoping I maybe broke a ring when putting pistons in, but all looks well. No loose big ends or mains, no broken rings, no bearing caps forgotten or anything silly like that.
Have spent a huge amount of cash getting it redone, and if anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it. Even if you think it sounds stupid, send it, as I can't see anything wrong with it.
I did not change oil pump rotators - anyone know if these could be the cause????
