To disc or Not to disc

I wanna change my 110 200tdi's rear axle for a disc braked 300tdi rear axle mmmmmm

So John down the pub says easy just change it then some one else started talking about compensators and science. Simple changeover or do you have to modify the whole circuit - master cylinder etc.

Can anybody confirm the ease of this mod.
