I also noticed that most all Jaguars now have the turn knob gear shift. Some of the spy shots seem to have the same. It might be the selector for off-roading, though. I drove the Jaguar with the knob shifter and I can't say I'm a huge fan. It does clean up that area a bit, but it seems like a useless piece of electronics. If they do the turn knob, that means there will be paddles on the steering wheel. Pretty silly for an off-road vehicle.

Is my speculation correct, or are they sticking with the manual shifter?

If they stick with the 8 speed gearbox that the current TDV6 has, it already has the gimmicky knob shifter.

I"m beginning to think my 2013 V8 will be staying in the garage for a while.

It looks like that Maramis Teal or something? I like it as well.

That is not Marmaris teal. I bought a 13 Marmaris Teal Sport a couple months ago. It is much more "Caribbean Sea" green/blue than the LR4 that appears to have more grey in it.

I tried uploading photos, but for some reason it is not letting my paste the url over to this site.

Thanks for the input - I wasn't sure and it was the closest color I could think of. Maybe this is a new color option for 2014? I'd love to see photos of your RRS in Marmaris Teal - such a rare color.

I've driven the new RR supercharged off-road with the knob and paddle shifters. Much to my surprise, I loved it. You never have to take your hands off the wheel by simply pulling or pushing to change gears. As some of you know, if you have two wheels off the ground or are in a sticky situation, its kind of nice leaving both hands on the wheel. The paddles allow you to hold the vehicle in one gear by holding it or you can quickly up/down shift.

Keep an open mind ... its nice.

Since they stayed with a "normal" shifter in the new Range Rover Sport in the US, I am just guessing they would keep it for the LR4 too for '14.

Not really... The 2014 Sport has a new joystick thingy replacing the old fashioned shifter, which apparently takes some getting used to as well.

I believe this is the one umbertob is referring to. By the look of it, it appears to look and function similar to the one in my BMW. It did take a couple days to get accustomed to it...but I have no issue with it now.

I saw a 2014 Range Rover Sport while I was biking to work. Looked pretty cool in person, but I did LOVE the engine noise (it was a supercharged V8). Sounded awesome!
