Very interesting dilemma just popped up!

As you may know I'm putting my order in later today (Sept delivery) with a non-local dealer for a:
• 2014 LR4 HSE
• Corris Grey
• Black Design Package 19"
• SiriusXM HD radio
• Climate Comfort Package
• Heavy Duty Package
• Vision Assist Package
• 825 Watt Audio
• Ebony interior leather
• Walnut finish
MSRP = $63,225

However, my local dealer just called me with an opportunity. They don't have an order for me (they received no LR4 allocations for May), but they apparently disqualified an applicant whose order already went in (Sept delivery) and are offering it to me.
• 2014 LR4 HSE LUX
• Fuji White
• SiriusXM HD radio
• Heavy Duty Package
• Vision Assist Package
• 825 Watt Audio
• Ebony interior leather
• Black Laquer finish
MSRP = $64,875

Wow huh! And I actually initially had the Fuji White as my top choice before changing to Corris Grey.
If I took the Lux here is what I'd gain from my order:
• Extended Windsor Leather Package
(I'm sure it's lovely, but not a deal breaker)
• Different looking 19" wheels
(I may like them more, but also not a deal breaker)
• Interior mood lighting
(lol ***?)
• Electric seat memory
(nice, enjoy it in our Odyssey, but not a deal breaker as this is mainly my car and not the family car)
• Power steering column
(never used one before, indifferent)
• Black Lacquer finish
(this is what I originally wanted but deferred due to complaints about smudging and keeping it clean)
• Brighter Grill "Bright Atlas"
(can't imagine it's a deal breaker)
• Cooler
(enjoy it in the Odyssey, but certainly not a deal breaker as my wife uses it and I like my water room temp)

And here is what I'd lose:
• Black Design Package 19"
(I really want this, would it be a deal breaker? Hard to say until I compared both side by side in person which I'm unable to do)

So while I feel very giddy to actually have OPTIONS regarding the 2014 LR4 lol, I have the ability to order EXACTLY what I want as the HSE.

Thoughts?
Those of you with a LUX, is it a no-brainer to take it over an HSE that includes the package set I'm ordering?

I have the extended leather package on a 2013 and I'm really glad I got it, but I would never trade it for the climate package. The heated seats alone are a must, but I live in New England. That being said, I would never settle for my 2nd choice color.

That was my mistake, the LUX comes standard with the Climate Control package (have edited my post). Thanks for the feedback, I'm leaning towards letting my order go in.

Climate Control Package is included in the Lux.

Looks like the only differences are the colors and the black lacquer. But you show Walnut grain and black lacquer for the white one. I'm confused. I don't think you can get both. I thought it was one or the other. Btw, I'm writing this from my iPad while sitting in my brand new one! Post to follow.

The main difference (to me) is the Black Design Pack, paint color, and price.

For a little over $1000 dollars more I get probably my 2nd or 3rd fav color, no black package (which I think I want), but it's a LUX.

Congratulations btw!

"walnut removed from white car description, and corrected the climate package bit too*

Black Design package would be quite important to me (personally). I would see if you could somehow negotiate with your dealer for them to get the black pack retrofitted.

I basically did a bastardized black pack myself from eBay (authentic LR parts though). I bought the black lettering "Land Rover" for the hood, black lettering "Discovery 4" for the rear, removed the other V8 and SE lettering, bought black grille and side vents. I have Compomotive wheels, so that was one thing less to worry about. The only thing missing is the black mirror caps and black door handles.

Close enough for me.

I am glad that people are at least trying to put black on these and not chrome.

I am so disgusted by all the chrome on some of these SUVs lately.

It seems to me that the LR4 Luxury does not add anything that you really wish to have. All it does is give you the opportunity to purchase locally. With both vehicles due in around the same time, it would make more sense for you to go with the vehicle you actually want...the grey vehicle that you planned on ordering through the other dealer. It would be one thing if the white car was due in much sooner than the delivery date you were given for your potential order, but since it's not, you might as well get what you want.

Well tonight I finalized my original order for the corris grey with black pack - that way I get exactly what I want. Order is on and targeting delivery on 8/30.

What a relief! Have been so concerned I would be unable to get a 2014 LR4 it seems unreal that I have one ordered.

I know the feeling! Time and again I struggled with settling for something sooner but something less. For some folks that works out great! But for us it was worth the wait. And folks on this forum helped me stay the course. Glad I did! You will be, too. Corris w/ BP looks great. It was a 4-month wait for me. You'll only have 3! And in the meantime you can start making your shopping list of accessories. ;-)
