I have had my 2003 LR discovery back for 7 months now. Like I posted earlier, the tapping was still present. A few weeks after getting it back i filled up with shell high test gas, never used this before, an hour or so later the tapping stopped. I have been using this ever since. I did one... -

After all that work i got my truck back doing the same exact thing. Still tapping, oil light flashing at warm idle. I will now drive this thing until it blows up! I will then look into a new engine from the UK. -

Oh yes, that has been done also. New screen, new oil tube, mechanic said it looked very clean! -

Good luck with that. I have a 2003 LR with 57,000 that has been in the shop last 5 months. This LR mechanic practically rebuilt engine, $3000 dollars later, same problem. If you figure this out, let me know. Truck has had about 4 or 5 new oil pumps put on. Still tapping, oil light still... -

Sounds like a typical valve tap coming from the top end, passanger side. I don't have the truck to find out taps per minute, but pretty rapid and constant while at idle. Sounds like a pen being tapped on a desk. Thanks for taking the time out to help with my problem!! -

The tapping only starts when the vehicle is warmed up, about 10 minutes after cold start up. The tapping goes away once I accelerate or rev the engine over 1000 or so rpms. Just about everytime I'm stopped in traffic or at a light, oil light flickers and the tapping starts. The mechanic... -
