Make sure that you get with the DMV from where you are at first though. I had a guy in Cali that was going to buy it but since the odometer is in kilometers the DMV wanted to call it a grey market car and charge him more stupid fees.
No worries though it has been regeistered in WA...
After alot of thought I am selling my 97 D1. The amount of driving I have to do has almost doubled since taking my kid to daycare, so milage is killing me. Time to look for a car :(

I trashed all genuine speakers!! Your D1 shouldnt have the HK system.
I went all JL audio. 4.5 in the front doors and 5.25 in the rear pillars. I wired up a Total Mobile Audio (made by JL) amp under the drivers seat which drives a 10" JL sub in the back.

If you follow the website link from your last post about your radio. your #3 question would be answered. Unconnect the big white plug and chop off the wires and trace them back to the desired speakers.

The harness doesnt really bypass it. In order for the speakers to even put out a signal since they are connected directly to the amp the amp needs to be on. You end up having to connect the blue power wire (which powers up the amp) to even get sound, which isnt bypassing the amp at all...
I just had to do this a month or so ago.
Go to Crutchfield and figure out which deck will fit the factory slot. Go to Ebay and get that deck at a killer price!!! (brand new in box of course)
