I purchased Nitto Terra Grappler G2s yesterday for my 2014 LR4 in the 265/50/20 size after seeing recommendations here and really like them. I really didnt want to use different suspension rods or add spacers. By the way, if you want to use a matching size fully inflated spare in the factory spare tire well, this size is the limit. It is a snug fit especially with my factory trailer hitch in place.

Here are a couple of pics to go with the previous post. All at normal height setting with 265/50/20 Nitto G2s.

Not the best picture when you have to take it from the drive way, but a better perspective than my previous post.

I blew out a sidewall on a stupid little rock with the Pirelli Scorpion ATR's I was running in the 255/55/19. Long story, but never obtained a full size spare because I didn't want to invest in another set of wheels that weren't what I felt was a proper off-roading tire. Kept me off the trails for the past year. Finally was able to save up some money to make a change.

I can say that the Rover got me through ice and snow between two feet and 1 foot through the mountains with chains on 3 1/2 wheels running the wussy spare that comes with the LR4 (not HSE version) when I blew out my tire.

Ensure if you run rods to get an alignment regularly to avoid crowning.
How did you like these? I’m debating these or toyo at or the falken wildpeak in a bit larger size.

No power or mpg loss. I've had the Grapplers for almost 2 years. They are quiet and look great. Actually just got another complement on them by an owner of an MB indy that I was at today.

Did you have the 275/55/20? I am going to run adjustable rods probably set at 2.5” and have the Gap iid tool for fine tuning. I have the 14+ 5 spoke land mark rims and am either going to run the Nitto, BFG or Toyo in a 275/55/20 or the 285/55/20 which is just a hair taller than the 275 in the falken wildpeak. On the light end of the spectrum are the nittos at 43lbs per tire and the falkens at 58. I’m just trying to pick a tire that won’t **** gas mileage, power, and ride. The 275/55 only come in a XL or D range. The 285 comes in an E only.

Thanks

I have the 265/50-20 which is the smallest size for 20 inch wheels Nitto makes for the G2's. The truck is my wife's DD and she drives on the expressway every day so I can't ride 2.5" over stock.

The 285/55-20 might be too tall even with the rods.

I'm no engineer but unsprung weight of 15lbs per tire has to make some difference...

I know a ton of people running the 275/55/20 with extremely minimal rubbing. I’m wondering if I can get away with the 285. I’m sure there will be a difference in just trying to have them smallest difference possible.

I am running with 285/40/22 and the only thing I get from a rubbing perspective are full turn on low setting. Otherwise they work perfectly.

Hey guys,
i'm currently running 19's on my LR4 2011 and debating whether to switch to 20's or not.
My utmost concerns are 1st wetness traction (40-50% of the time )then snow and light off road.(30% of the time)
At the moment i'm not looking to modify the car in anyway, so no rods or spacers etc..

Here is the total run down.

in the 19's - 255/55
1- Duratrac
2- Cooper LTZ
3- DynaPro ATM Rf10

in the 20's - 265/50
1- Cooper Discoverer AT3 4s
2-Nitto Terra Grappler

in the 20's - 275/45
1-Cooper Discoverer AT3

I'm leaning mostly towards the 265/50/20 Cooper Discoverer AT3 4s, mainly because the DEX rating for Wetness is C.

Compared to every other ALL terrain mentioned above they are all in the E Level.

has anyone run the Cooper's in 265/50?
any specific advice whether that is the tire i am looking for?

Cheers.
