unlikely anything proper exists in 19” for 31.5” tire diameter.

Why aren’t you people just getting 18’s on there to improve every aspect of the tire/wheel/vehicle ?!

Leave the 20’s alone for Winter spec or highway tires.

Hey all,
I plan on making an upgrade soon to 285/50/20. Wondering what those who have this setup are sizing up their 19" spares to as a back up in case of a flat?

Obviously, a full-size spare of the same size would be best, but does a 285/50/20 even fit in the spare wheel area?

That’s obly 31.5” according to tirerack so one should fit fine. If 265/65-18 fits then so will this if you remove the composit heat shield

FYI 285/50-20 May rub the upper control arm. That width is simply not meant to be on the vehicle

Thanks @jwest!

Agreed that 265/50r18 is the way to go. I do plan on doing this at some point in the future but just looking to get some better tires in the interim (the dealer I bought the truck from put some really cheap new all seasons on it)

I found a really good deal locally on a set of four 285/50r20G2s for $500. Tires have less than 5k miles on them. Thought I'd give it a shot until I'm ready for the Compos.

However, going this route leaves me vulnerable in the event of a flat. I have a 19" spare and would have to replace it with a 20" wheel AND tire that have the same circumference as the rest of the set so that I don't affect the driveline if I ever had to use it.

It may be more trouble than it's worth.

I don’t think there is such a size of 265/50-18 but 265/65 or 275/65-18 would work well. So would 255/70.

I can just say I’d never go anywhere outside a city with an unmatched spare esp if wrong size. It’s not quite as bad if the 20 and 19 were at least both factory similar but your idea is much different.

You could add a spacer to allow the 285 to work though. I tried the terrafirma but found the H&R to be much higher quality in design and execution. They also have two sizes with the thinner one being more than enough.
