I got 45K out of the factory rear brakes and 60K out of the fronts. Replaced both before wear sensors tripped.

Also, when doing brakes on LR4 or any other modern Rover, you are likely to find the rotors are trash. Dealers also change pads and rotors when they do the job. The rotors are usually grooved from the metallic pads and cannot be turned as they are already under spec. Both my old LR3 and current LR4 tested this way. I also did four brake jobs on the LR3 as I drove it 250K miles. So, if you want a smooth running and fresh system, plan on doing both pads and rotors.

Also, the fronts and rears appear to be on quite different schedules for my driving style. My rears always go first. Not sure if everyone experiences the same.

On brands, I’ve used both factory equipment purchased through Atlantic British and have also used an EBC package on the LR3 which was really nice. On the LR4, I used coated Raybestos rotors and metallic pads from RockAuto. They feel every bit as good as the factory stuff and drives the same. I actually think the rotors are a better product than factory. I have about 30K miles on the rear now and about 15K miles on the fronts. All is well. There is no grooving on the rotors and about the same as factory on pad dust. The price difference from factory branded parts to aftermarket is about half. Doing it yourself versus the dealer is about another half.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Not to scare you. We had an 08' LR3 which needed pads and rotors all four corners at 22K. My wife drove the car the majority of the time so I chalked it up to her riding the brakes. We traded the LR3 for an LR4 10' which now has 18K on it and guess what? Pads are down to 30%. And the rotors look like they are finished as well. Now we have a LR4 10' and 11'. I will let you know how the 11' fairs. It's got 5K on it now. The first time I drove it I noticed how squishy the 10's brakes felt. So, needless to say, after berating my wife about riding the brakes I had to apologize profusely. Seems that we can't get more than 22K out of the pads and rotors.

Sorry for your driving style ;) My last set of rotors lasted well past 70,000 miles and my LR# is one of the heaviest built out there riding between 7000-8000 lbs depending on summer vs winter. It has 139,000 miles now and only got the 3rd set of rotors last summer. I put on EBC slotted and dimpled black coated with their green pads.

I replaced all original 4 pads and rotors at 40K. Used OEM Brembo rotors and Ferodo pads. Good performance so far and would recommend them. Considered Zimmerman but could not find them at the time.

Rears wear faster on our 4 as well. Always have changed both the rotor and pads at the same time.
I'd rather have dirty wheels and stick with the great brake performance of the Ferodo OEMs.

Up to 85k miles and I think my 4th or 5th set of pads and rotors on my 2011 LR4 (have always just changed all pads and rotors when needed, to avoid noises and other potential issues I've been warned about - not a risk-taker with brakes and tires). I typically purchase the full brake kit on Atlantic British (currently $859) and bring to a local shop. It looks like Atlantic British now has an EBC kit for the LR4, which is about $90 more than the OEM kit. Wondering if anyone has good/bad experience with those EBC pads/rotors? Primarily concerned with performance, and not brake dust (although less brake dust would be welcome, if performance was equal to or better than OEM brakes). Link to the kit is below.

I used ecb or EBC 15 yrs ago on e36 m3 and didn't love them. Akebono are the ones I'd want and trying to find for my 2013 LR4

I went with EBC pads and rotors on my 2012 in October 2016, or about 22,000 miles ago. They've been great, and a lot less brake dust than the factory parts.

I've been meaning to check to see how much pad I have left, but I have no indication that they are wearing out soon.

Placeforbrakes is where I got mine. I haven't checked the prices lately, but when I bought they were far cheaper than OEM.
