    DSII Gas Mileage ?

I have a 99 DII and I get about 13 with 50/50 highway/city. Roof rack with 4 Hella lights and factory brush guard with 2 LR Lights. Just took the roof rack off to fit it in the garage, but I wont know what improvement that makes until I get some low compression and misfires sorted. Dan

Engine Wash Killed Engine and ABS

When I took the cover off, there was no water at all in the fuse box. Some on the wiring under it though... BTW, I was able to clear the ABS faults with the Rovacom and also use it to tell the SLS to raise the rear up again.

Engine Wash Killed Engine and ABS

Getting ready to pull the oil pan on my 99 DII and check the pick up tube, and noticed that there was still a lot of mud and sand from my last big wade through some mucky stuff. Took it to the quarter car wash and hosed down the under side and engine compartment real good. I have done this...

Solution to Engine Misfire =>1996 Disco's

I think so...I will check. At least on my D2, I thought that the VSS is what drives the speedometer. If your device showed you going that fast, would'nt the speedometer also show the same? I have never noticed my speedometer wigging out. Initially, I did not think it was the VSS...

The Correct NGK part # Please

Still have not gotten a reply from NGK, but my local parts store looked up my vehicle in thier book and the number they came up with matches what was on the NGK site (influding the gap at .032). So I put them in last night and don't seem to have any problems (other than the occasional misfire...

The Correct NGK part # Please

I looked up the part number for the ngk iridium plugs at ngk.com, then picked them up at my local auto parts store. The part number the website gave me for my 99 Disco 2, was BPR6EIX (gapped at .032) When I got them home I noticed right away that the nut portion bigger as well as the...

Solution to Engine Misfire =>1996 Disco's

Hey everyone, Thanks for all the info so far, it has been pretty useful. I have a 99 D2 4.0. I am also having alot of trouble with misfires from # 7, but I don't think it is the VSS. I have a Rovacom diagnostics setup and can monitor all cylinders while it is idling in the driveway...

    Alarm Triggers for No Reason

I think I'm just going to try unplugging one at a time and see if I still get any false alarms. New one (for rear anyway) is $185 from Rovers North.

    Alarm Triggers for No Reason

Believe me, my truck has motion sensors from the factory. Sounds like they actually detect changes in air movement. Here is what I found so far in my shop manual... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The BCU uses volumetric sensors to detect any...

    Alarm Triggers for No Reason

Anyone ever have the alarm go off every so often for no reason? Actually there is a reason...my diagnostic software says volumetrics. These (I believe) are the motion sensors inside the car. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck repairing or replacing. 99 Disco 2 (pretty much...

    Larger Capacity K&N Oil Filter

Thinking of using K&N next time around (99 Disco 2 with 4.0) I thought I saw a post by disco mike (where is he anyway) where he said he used a 3001 K&N. The filter specified on the K&N website says it should be the HP-2004. I tried a search on that same site for HP-3001 and it came up...

    Washing the Engine

oooops! I took a good size dip over the weekend and then took it to the quarter car wash last night and just hosed it all off (99 D2). I didn't cover anything up, but it started back up again ok. Hope didn't screw anything up. This was the second time I did it (also hosed it real good...

Hey Ares, Can you get me directions to that place? I was just down there hiking across the gorge (we hike, camp and climb there pretty much) and we finished a day early. The guys I was with took me to an area southeast of Natural Bridge to have a little fun with the trucks (first time...

Hello, (new guy with window & manual/sport mode ?)

    Seafaom Treatment Gone Wrong?

Just for sh#ts and giggles, I tried the LR dealer in Louisville. Not only were they open on Saturday, but they also had the radiator for about $200. Had to speed (from Cincinnati) to make it by closing time, but I made it. 3 hour round trip. The one from Rovers North probably would have...

    Seafaom Treatment Gone Wrong?

I actually took the two lines off of the throttle body and connected them together so there is still flow, just not through the throttle body. Some have been talking about the benefits of cold air intakes, so I'm kinda wondering if a cooler throttle body will help any. Anyway, I did get the...
