Metalic Thunk after driving a short way
Thanks for the response. Interesting about the dampeners under the rear bumper. Didn't remember about them but if it had of been them the thunk would be more of a plastic sound as they bang against plastic. The sound is more like a wound up spring driving something to give a solid bang. Hasn't... -

Time limit on service??
LR3 has 4 year 50,000 mile guarantee. I am not putting much mileage on mine. Have a 2005 with only 14,500 miles. 1. If I go longer than a year before the next service should I at least change my oil? Have been told new synthetics don't acid up like the old oils. 2. If a year goes by and I... -

Does anyone know the formula the trip computer uses? I think it has many elements as it shows lousy mileage right after you reset to zero than drive off so I think there are more than one average. Also there is a delay when coasting down hill before MPG really adjusts. I would be surpirsed if... -

Mileage Window Announcements?
When I start the LR3 the mileage window states -625 miles oil service. The dealer supposedly did my 7,500 mile service last month. Was there something he should have done to the computer to acknowledge this? Does the -625 miles mean the computer assumes I have gone past my service schedule... -

LR3 V6 or V8 ??
I have the bottom of the line V6 with no options other than the premium interior or whatever. It is the least expensive version and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Piston Slap???
Sorry to drag this on, but the dealer says the slap (or clacking) noise I hear on startup is the oil pump and that as the pump primes itself the slap goes away. Did Discovery wind up with a different oil pump than the Rover because I have a Rover with a '94 3.9L engine that is quite as can... -

Carl, I like your pre-oiler idea. Searched and found your discription and pictures. Just might go to the trouble to try something like that after I take the dealer to task as suggested earlier.
