96 rr parking lights wont turn off

I have been told it is the BCM, and once replaced it needs to be reprogramed by a dealer. Is this the problem and if so do you have to have it reprogramed? any advice would be greatly appriciated. thanks!

Check the light switch first, it may have gone bad.
