alternator - idea/thought

I think usually what goes in a electric motor/generator/altinator is the brushes - right?
couldnt you just replace the brushes instead of 300.00 for a remanufactured one?
(I think I did this years ago with a toyota)

You can rebuild any alternator, the question is how long will it last... I have not heard much success with a Rover/M****li (can't remember the spelling) alternator

Maybe try a Rover salvage yard or e-bay for a used one
