I'm back!

as of tommorrow I will have a 91 RRC. I am looking to put a 2" OME lift and maybe 265/75R16s. Will these tires fit? I assume I need to re gear and would like to know where I can get the best deals on a set of 4.10.

Thanks

Justin

Welcome back Justin...

265/75's are ~32" -- no need to regear. Look at Rovertym, Rovertracks, or Great Basin Rovers if you still want gears...

AFAIK, there shouldn't be a lot of rubbing with a Classic and that mild a lift. Might need to upgrade suspension and adjust steering bumpstops, though.

Are you sure I won't need the gears? I figure that the 3.9 needs as much help as it can get going over the pass to go surfing and keeping the 13-15mpg it gets.

I'm not 100% sure (I have a 4.0 D1, remember), but you should be fine unless you start loading that RRC down with junk.

"Upgrade suspension" in my earlier post = taller bumpstops.

3.9L + 32" tires = marginal power IMHO. Depends on what you expext out of your Rover. I would try it first than decide if you want/need gearing.

Hmmmm! 265x75's are in fact 31.6" and fitted to a 3.9L will have no adverse affect on the power, even if "well loaded" your truck will run just fine. Also the difference between the 3.9 & 4.0L horsepower wise is virtually negligable, if they have the same compression ratio.

Yes, my '95 5-speed ran just fine but struggled on the highway towing my 4500lb boat/trailer with the 265/75's on it. Like I said, depends on what you plan on doing with it.
