Hi,
Relating to my earlier post.
On Monday departing on 6k km road trip.
Noticed transmission oil leak and decided to check level with engine turned off. Gingerely removed filler plug and fluid gushed out!
Oh dear.......... can only find links to LR3 procedure for checking level which involves having engine running, transmission at operating temp, moving shifter through range and only then removing filler plug. Warning that if you remove filler plug with engine off then fluid will gush out!
I checked my manual and it is skimpy on details?

I am feeling the LR3 procedure likely same as 2010 LR4. Can anyone kindly confirm this? I have half a day tomorrow to sort this out.

Thanks in advance,

Quentin

Pretty much the 6 speed and 8 speed require you to have the torque converter full (which is why they say to cycle the gears) on the initial fill and then at the respective temp filling until overflow. That’s how I’ve read it in numerous forums not just the lr ones.

Sorry I can’t be more specific. The only other thing is that the vehicle must be level.

Good luck

So I presume the torque for the plug is 35Nm. Only need to do the calculation if I am using a torque wrench attached to the end of the special tool?

Yes. The torque reading on your wrench is calculated from the center of the square drive portion. The extra lever action of the special tool determines the calculation.
