Horrifically loud static coming out of all speakers.
2006 Land Rover LR3 HSE
So...I have searched everywhere I can think and have not found anyone with this problem.
Wife calls me the other day in a panic.
There's something wrong. It sounds like a jackhammer coming out of my speakers!
I leave work and rush over there and boy was she right.
I was 10' away from the vehicle and could hear it clear as day.
There was full blast static coming out of every speaker in the car.
It started when she walked up to the car and hit the unlock button on the remote effectively "waking the car up"
I cannot for the life of me figure out what's causing this.
I pulled the 30amp fuse behind the glovebox for what i think is the amp and it turned off. No audio at all so at least we won't go deaf.
Yesterday I put it back in and static came right on full blast.
I pulled the bluetooth fuse and the static stopped but still no audio and that froze the navigation screen to "Land Rover"
Anyone heard of this problem or have any ideas on how to fix?
Its really a bummer not having that wonderful sounding stereo while we drive.
*Update info*
I have been trying to troubleshoot this morning. Here is what I did and what i found.
The fuse controlling the bluetooth module seems to cause issue with the head unit.
With the fuse out there is no visible volume control on the display
With the fuse in I get the visual audio control back but would get horrific static if the amp was powered.
I thought at some point there might be a short inside the amp causing the full blast static but...
I put all the fuses back in and pulled the optical most connector from the amp. That is what is triggering the static.
Plugged in massive static. Unplugged all is quiet.
Could it still be the amp? I'm really lost on what to do next.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
