I have a LR Discovery 2007 and have noticed a tapping noise when initially accelerating, it clears but return when i take my foot of the gas momentarily as the revs reduce - i have also noticed smoke coming from the front of the vehicle when i start it, actually i only notice it at night in the headlights are the two related or am i worrying over nothing???

I had a serpentine belt issue that was louder than a tapping; more like a scraping. But it occurred under similar circumstances.
