How do you remove shifter knob?

Hi Guys,

I want to replace the shifter light plate, since the film on mine is currently broken. I know how to take everything apart down to the plastic gear indicator, but I don't know how to take the shifter knob off or complete this part of the operation. And the CD manual I have doesn't shed any light either.

Can anyone else enlighten me on how to perform this operation? Thanks.

If I recally correctly, you either a) have to remove the top of the shifter (wood trim) and then remove something then shifter comes off,

or b) pull real hard till it comes off, but don't knock yourself out when it comes loose.
