georgekale, by the looks of the larger bump guide, what is the thickness gained the larger bump to plastic rubbing surface vs the older guide from recessed pocket to plastic tubbing surface?
That difference alone allowing keeping the hydraulically applied piston deeper in its bore preventing it from binding up or hitting a fully extended stop limit then causing the loss of applied pressure to the guide?
The piston ending up coming out of the bore or getting cocked and binding an issue?

This LR timing chain and guides issues has been going on for several years LR knowing there was a issue not correcting the problem once and for all allowing their 5.0 engines to function 150 to 200K trouble free miles getting LR owners their confidence back including the general public if thinking of purchasing a LR vehicle spending a large sum of their money. Having a known problem reducing the value of these troubled vehicles to near giveaway status reminds me of Harley's and their cult followers no matter how many continuing faults their bikes have over several decades, they still have a following.

The 86 735i BMW purchased new had the ABS pump fail at five months old and replaced, besides that it will eat brake pads and rotors being a heavy vehicle if driven agressively in the mountains. Overall a trouble free OHC engine limited to plugs and oil service, silent dual row timing chain and guides all original at 317K miles and counting. Properly designed and manufactured unless the Bean Counters had their say getting into their profit margins. .....~~=o&o>.......
