Depending on how loose. If it's really loose, I'd say sand mode/ low range. Better spin and more power on demand to prevent digging in. The hallmark of the grass/g/s is slower acceleration/higher gearing which could get you stuck in loose stuff. If it's not so loose, I'd try rock crawl in low range. I think these other modes are better for climbing because they provide better torque and power than g/g/s.

Thanks for the CONSTRUCTIVE answer Roverine. I have read on this board of people
using different response sytems in situations that don't always line up with whats
on the dial, (using mud & ruts in the snow ect). Just wanted to know if anybody
preferred one over the other.

I agree with Houm and Roverine depending on your circumstance. If you are starting from a standstill on loose gravel, then you don't want too much torque and revs or you'll sit and spin, so gravel mode is preferred. If you're running up a big hill and need to keep momentum, sand mode might be better. Best bet is to find your hill and try both ways. I wouldn't take offense to the sarcasm, I'll bet it was in fun.
