t-case fluid change

2004 DISCO HSE7 60K
had all the fluid changed except t-case. do i must remove the cross member in order to get to the 1/2" drain plug? anywhere i can get a 1/2" stock and use my wrench to open that drain plug?
as for the filler plug, it's also half hidden and pls recommend what tool i need. many thanks.

no one have any comments about a 2004 t-case fluid change?

Sorry out of town (Mexico for a couple of weeks) I don't remember if the 04 uses gear oil or Transmission fluid.... I don't have my docs with me on my laptop.
