I've just bought a used Freelander Td4, which should have been fully serviced before I collected it.
I checked the dipstick a couple of days after getting it, having driven it less than 100 miles I suppose, and the oil looks black.
I have never owned a diesel vehicle before so I don't know if this is normal. I certainly wouldn't expect to see black oil in a petrol engine after a recent service, but I gather that it is more normal in a diesel engine - I'm just not sure whether to expect it so soon after a service.
Is this OK, or does it mean they didn't change the oil?
Freelander is a 2001 Td4 with 50,000 miles.
