I have asked this before, but I am really concerned about the ticking I hear at idle. That just does not seem correct.
I have been told it is normal by my dealer.
If there is a ticking logically it would mean something is hitting something, like a valve. I know I don’t want to do a valve job…

Any advice from others that have had this issue, if anyone… I cannot believe I am the only one that has this issue.

gmoney,
I had this on my first LR3. Turned out what I thought was ticking was actually a leak in the exhaust somewhere and it was fixed under warranty. I guess first you have to figure out what is making the noise.

Audi's V8s get the valve clatter at idle, freaky sounding sometimes but normal. Don't here it with our LR3, but engines vary.

I have it as well, especially at colder temps at cold start. The dealer claimed it was normal which I say BS.

FWIW: +1 - I think.
Just had the 22,500 service done and mentioned a ticking / rattling noise that I thought was coming from underneath the car, driver's side. Aside from a loose exhaust bracket, they found that the exhaust manifold was also loose - they tightened that back up and the noise has gone.
