Replacement engine
The demise of my 2010 LR4 was a head gasket. The "stealership" quoted $16,000 to repair engine, which also included replacing the infamous timing chain guide and injectors. The question was what was the overall value of the vehicle with approximately 250K miles on it. What could be the next...- johnnwalters

Gas smell after driving. No error codes. No visible leaks.
I had mine done by an independent garage about two years ago. I'll be expecting a refund from JLR. But if I had the smell right now, I'd have it repaired now because of the potential safety issue, and then seek reimbursement.- johnnwalters

Thinking of moving on from LR4...
Blake, I had 238,000 miles on mine which was a 2010 LR4 HSE LUX. I had to give it up when I had the beginning of a head gasket issue and I knew that the cost to fix it at the "stealership" would be close to $20K. Emergency key (blade key) not unlocking LR4
I believe that it's the signal from the key fob located inside the vehicle which overrides the lock from working electronically. It's doing this for your safety as the fob assumes that you're in the vehicle with the doors locked, so using the external key to try and open the lock is perceived...- johnnwalters

Engine Dies at 70 MPH
I would chime in with it being an electrical problem with either the alternator or battery. However I too had a complete failure similar to yours but I wasn't in motion at the time and it turned out to be a bad infotainment system. There are close to 20 modules that all run through that system...- johnnwalters

OEM hitch receiver, or aftermarket?
I'm not 100% sure when, but at some point LR changed the receiver for the LR4. My KNB500023 fits LR3 and early LR4s. What year is your vehicle?- johnnwalters

LR4 not garaged - should it be covered?
Mine has been outside at times under crepe myrtle trees and oaks and others and has been fine. If you have a hand held leaf blower, I'd just use that to clear off debris.- johnnwalters
